Second Baruch

English, translated by Online Critical Pseudepigrapha — Online Critical Pseudepigrapha, English of the critical text

And he answered and said to me:

"These things also I will show you.

Because you said: 'For whom and for how many will these things be?'

To those who have believed, the good that was previously spoken will come to pass,

And for those

who despise (it),

there will be the opposite of these.

And as for what you said concerning those who have drawn near and concerning those who have withdrawn,

this is the word:

Those who formerly submitted

and afterward withdrew,

and mingled with the seed of the mingled nations,

of these, their former time

is

and as refuse

counted.

And those who formerly did not know,

and afterward knew life,

and mingled with the seed

of the people

who separated (themselves),

of these, their

former time

is counted as refuse.

And times succeed times and seasons seasons,

and receive one from another.

And then at the end

everything shall be compared,

according to the measure of the times

and according to the hours of the seasons.

For corruption shall lead away those who belong to it,

and life those who belong to it.

And the dust shall be called,

and it shall be told:

'Return what does not belong to you,

and raise up everything that you have kept for its time.'
