Second Baruch

English, translated by Online Critical Pseudepigrapha — Online Critical Pseudepigrapha, English of the critical text

Therefore, behold, days are coming,

and the times will hasten more than the former ones,

and the seasons will run faster than those that have passed,

and the years will pass away quickly,

more than those that now abide.

For this reason I have now removed Zion,

that I might hasten all the more and visit

the world

in its time.

Now therefore, hold in your heart everything

that I command

you,

and seal them in the chambers of your mind.

And then I will show you the judgment of my might

and my unsearchable ways.

Go therefore and sanctify yourself seven days,

and do not eat bread, nor drink

water,

and do not speak to anyone.

And after these things come to this place, and I will reveal myself to you,

and I will speak true things with you,

and I will give you instructions concerning the course of the times;

for they are coming and will not be delayed.

<The prayer of Baruch, the son of Neriah.>
