Second Baruch

English, translated by Online Critical Pseudepigrapha — Online Critical Pseudepigrapha, English of the critical text

For behold, the days are coming, and the books shall be opened

in which are written the sins of all those who have sinned,

and again, also the treasuries in which

the righteousness

of all those who have been justified in creation has been gathered.

And it shall be at that time,

you and many who are with you shall see the longsuffering of the Most High,

which [has endured] in every

generation,

in that he was longsuffering toward all born [of women] who sin and are justified.

And I answered and said:

“Behold, O Lord, no one knows the number of those things

that have passed, nor indeed of those that are to come.

For behold, I too know what has happened to me,

but what is to happen to our enemies I do not know,

or when

you will visit

your works.”
