The Creation of Heavenly Bodies

1. As she desired, the Sophia who dwelt in the lower heaven obtained authority from Pistis, and she formed large shining bodies, and every star, and she placed them in the sky in order to shine on the earth, and to determine temporal signs, and seasons, and years, and months, and days, and nights, and minutes, and so on, and thus was adorned the whole area on the sky.

2. Now, when Adam of Light conceived the desire to enter into his light, namely, the eighth heaven, he could not do it on account of the poverty that had mingled together with his light. 3 He then created an immense aeon for himself, and inside that aeon he created six aeons, and their adornments, numbering six, which were seven times superior to the heavens of Chaos and their adornments.

4. Now all these aeons and their adornments subsist inside the infinity that lies between the eighth heaven and the Chaos beneath it, being counted together with the universe that belongs to poverty.
