What it is
A six-sided clay prism recording the king's campaigns, including the third: forty-six walled cities of Judah taken, two hundred thousand people counted as spoil, and Hezekiah himself shut up in Jerusalem like a bird in a cage.
Why it lasted
A siege described from both sides, and the Assyrian account conspicuously does not claim the city fell — it lists tribute instead. The gap between like a bird in a cage and the angel of 2 Kings 19 is where the historical argument lives.
