Postilla Litteralis
Nicholas of Lyra · c. 1270–1349
Read elsewhere
What it is
A commentary on the entire Bible insisting on the literal sense first, and drawing throughout on Rashi and other Jewish exegetes whose Hebrew he could read.
Why it lasted
The most used biblical commentary of the later Middle Ages. A jingle ran that had Lyra not played, Luther would not have danced.
Where to read it
Public domain and free to read in full, though not held here. The archives below have it.
These open a search on each archive rather than a direct link, which is the honest way to point at an edition nobody here has checked line by line.
