The Church Fathers · 325; revised 381

The Creed of Nicaea

The Council of Nicaea

Read elsewhere

What it is

The confession drawn up by the first ecumenical council, declaring the Son to be of one substance with the Father, and anathematising those who said there was a time when he was not.

Why it lasted

The most widely recited Christian text after the Lord's Prayer, and the doctrinal floor on which almost every church still stands.

Where to read it

Public domain and free to read in full, though not held here. The archives below have it.

These open a search on each archive rather than a direct link, which is the honest way to point at an edition nobody here has checked line by line.
