What it is
A nativity carol in the Wendat language, with the child wrapped in rabbit skin, visited by hunters, and honoured with gifts of fox and beaver pelt.
Why it lasted
The oldest Canadian Christmas carol and an early attempt to render the gospel in indigenous imagery rather than European.
