Twenty-eight articles presented to the emperor, stating what the evangelical churches teach and what abuses they have corrected, phrased as conservatively as honesty allowed.

Why it lasted

The foundational confession of Lutheranism and the first Protestant statement of faith presented to a secular authority as a legal document.
