What it is
Thirty prayers for a bishop's own use: the eucharistic prayer, blessings of oil and water, prayers over the sick, over the newly baptised, over the dead, and for the ordination of deacons, presbyters, and bishops.
Why it lasted
The oldest surviving Christian prayer book that can be dated and attributed, from a friend of Athanasius and Antony. Its anaphora preserves the state of the eucharistic prayer before the great liturgies were fixed.
