A widow's account of thirty steps of conversion, dictated to a scribe who repeatedly admits he cannot render what she says and is frightened by it.

Why it lasted

One of the most extreme mystical texts of the Middle Ages, and unusually candid about the gap between a woman's speech and a man's transcription.
