What it is
A Frankish rejection of the Greek council on images, arguing from a garbled translation that pictures are useful for teaching and decoration but must not be venerated.
Why it lasted
The West's independent position on religious art, and an early sign that Frankish theology would not simply follow Constantinople or Rome.
