What it is
The transcript of a public debate at Carthage in which Maximus argues that a will belongs to a nature rather than a person, so Christ must have two.
Why it lasted
The clearest statement of the argument for which Maximus was later tried, mutilated, and exiled — and which the sixth council vindicated.
